SOP – How to Reverse a Pick for a Specific Container after the Pick is Registered
1. Purpose
To remove a single pallet/load carrier/container from a shipment after the warehouse pick has already been registered, without deleting the entire warehouse shipment.
2. Scope
- Applies to: Warehouse users
- System: Business Central (Warehouse Shipment + Warehouse Picks).
- Situation:
- Warehouse Pick = Registered
- Warehouse Shipment = Not posted yet
- A specific pallet/load carrier must be taken off the truck and not shipped.
3. High-Level Overview
When a pick is registered, Business Central moves stock to the Shipment bin.
To “undo” just one pallet:
- Update the Sales Order / Warehouse Shipment so it no longer expects that quantity.
- Move the pallet back from the Shipment bin to its storage/pick bin using an Inventory Movement.
You are not deleting the shipment or the whole pick – only reversing that container’s movement.
4. Step-by-Step Procedure
Step 1 – Identify the Container to Remove
- Open the Warehouse Shipment.
- Go to Registered Whse. Pick Lines and identify:
- Select the Line/Container that you want to delete -> Show registered Document -> Manage -> Delete
Step 2 – Update the Warehouse Shipment
- Return to the Warehouse Shipment.
- Reopen the order if not open already.
- Go to the Lines ->Update the Qty. to Ship to the new quantity after the removal.
- Post the Warehouse Shipment -> Now you will have a second warehouse shipment containing the pick that you removed previously
Step 3 – Adjust the Sales Order (Source Document)
You need the sales order to match what will ship.
- From the Warehouse Shipment, use Line → Source Document Line → Open Sales Order(Show Document)
(or search for the Sales Order and open it manually). - If the Sales Order is Released, click Release → Reopen.
- On the Sales Lines:
- Find the line for the item/container being removed.
- Go to Reserved Quantity
- Cancel the reservation that you wish to unpick.
- When done, Reopen the sales order and update the Quantity in the sales Order Line to the correct amount.
Step 4 – Delete the Warehouse Shipment
- Return to the Warehouse Shipment.
- Delete the warehouse shipment by clicking on the trash bin on top of the page.
🔎 At this point, the system knows that pallet is not supposed to ship anymore, but the stock is still physically sitting in the Shipment bin. Next step is to move it back into storage.
Step 5 – Move the Pallet Back to Storage/Inventory
You use an Inventory Movement to move from the Shipment bin back to the original bin.
- Search for “Inventory Movement” and open the page.
- Find the item/Load carrier that you want to move back to inventory
- After selecting the correct line(s), in the header, go:
- Click on the 3 dots ( . . . )
- Actions
- Create Internal Movement
- Select the Bin you want to move it to in 'To Bin Code'.
- Delete the Load Carrier that starts with SH in the place action Line. Change it back to WP and assign a new Load Carrier No or assign old Load Carrier No.
- Click Autofill Qty. to Handle (if available) to copy Quantity to Qty. to Handle.
- Review the lines to ensure Take and Place quantities match.
- Click Register Invt. Movement.
This step moves the pallet from the Shipment bin back to the storage bin, effectively undoing the pick for that pallet.
Step 6 – Validate Inventory
- Open Inventory Summary or Item Ledger Entries (or your YAVEON load carrier overview).
- Confirm that:
- The pallet’s load carrier is now back in the correct bin, and it has a valid Load carrier No.
- Go back to the Sales Order and confirm:
- Lines only show quantities that should ship.
